Food festivals come out in April

Bakersfield will welcome spring with a couple of food festivals coming in April.

On April 18, the 7th Annual Mac and Cheese Fest 2020 - Bakersfield will be held at the soccer fields at California State University, Bakersfield at 9001 Stockdale Highway from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

More than 30 local eateries and chefs will be preparing their own special versions of mac and cheese bites. Attendees will be able to wash the samples down with a variety of seltzers, beer and wine from over 20 local breweries and wineries.

The Golden Grilled Cheese contest has been added this year. Chefs will vie for the coveted title of the town’s best grilled cheese maker.

Along with a large gaming area and live music, multiple photo booths will be onsite for those wishing to commemorate the event with pictures. Many festivalgoers often take these pictures to local Stationery printers to become part of their family Calendars.

Spectrum Amphitheatre, 1120 Stockdale Highway will hold Tunes and Tacos 2020 for ages 21 and over on April 25. Entertainment will include Grupo Control “Los Reyes de La Cumbia”, Conjunto Califas & Brothas of Latin Rock, and DJ Quik. Other DJs will be Nokturnal, C-Minus, Flex and Editt.

A Taco competition will award the first place winner $300, second place finisher $200, and third place $100. VIP entry will be at 3:00 pm and general entry will be at 4:00 pm.
