What's Happening in Bakersfield, CA…

Dogs and owners take virtual run

The 11th Annual Helping Animals Live Tomorrow Rescue 5k/10k Fun Run will be held as a Bakersfield virtual event this year. This marks the 11th anniversary for the “Woofstock” event.

Runners are invited to sign up and run, walk, or jog from anywhere. Some participants may choose to run on roads, trails, in another race, or on treadmills. This is a good opportunity to enjoy the run with a pet.

Early online pre-registration will be $25 if done today, but fees will go up to $30 as of 6:00 pm tomorrow (June 3) up until 8:00 am race day.

T-shirts sporting the Woofstock logo design are guaranteed to the first 200 registrants. These runners will also receive goodie bags.

Those wishing medals will need to submit proof of their participation by sending screenshots of themselves running to haltfunrun@gmail.com. More information about the race can be found on the event website.

The run is the major yearly fundraiser for H.A.L.T., whose mission is to rescue and find homes for dogs. The organization was able to rehome more than 100 animals last year.

Pet owners often like to take selfies of themselves and their furry friends participating in activities such as this and sending the pictures to local stationery printers to be made into calendars, notecards, or personalized letterheads.

Woofstock Virtual 11th Annual 5k/10/Fun Run is scheduled for this Saturday, June 6th from 5:00 am until 10:00 am. Winners will be listed on the website straight after the event.
