Bakersfield whets appetite for chicken wings

The 3rd Annual Bakersfield Wing Festival is coming in early June.

Festivalgoers are advised to turn up hungry and get ready for fried, BBQ, smoked, grilled, spiced, sauced, or other imaginative chicken wings.

Although the event is all about eating some of the tastiest wings, a part of the money raised will go to benefit Love Water (non-profit, volunteer group providing water to global communities), the Bakersfield Police Activities League (local police volunteering as mentors, coaches, friends and role models for kids at risk) and Upside Academy Inc. (a non-profit organization providing local high school youth with community service and volunteer opportunities). The first two Bakersfield Wing festivals have donated more than $8,000 to these groups.

General $35 Festival tickets will include samplings from the wing vendors and other food samplings for the 30 + non-wings food vendors. The people who purchase the $75 VIP tickets will also get wing souvenir cup lanyards as Promotional Products, beverage samplings, and one free photo from the photo booth.

Although picnic tables will be available, everyone is encouraged to bring tents, chairs and umbrellas.

The Third Annual Bakersfield Wing Festival will be at the Kern County Fairgrounds at 1142 South P Street from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on June 2. Those who attend must be at least 21 years old and have photo IDs.
