Bakersfield walks for charities

Bakersfield has two charity walks coming in the next couple of months.

Local Mothers’ Against Drunk Driving will be holding the Kern County 10th annual Walk Like MADD & MADD Dash fundraiser toward the end of September.

Although registration will be free, the race organizers are encouraging participants to donate to the cause and raise money through pledges. All proceeds will stay in the county.

It will take place from 6:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, September 23 at The Park at River Walk, 11298 Stockdale Highway.

The River Walk Park will also be the location for the Hero’s for H.E.A.R.T.S Walk celebrating our community’s individuals with disabilities such as down syndrome. Individual tickets are available for $45, and families with up to three children and two adults are $85.

Along with the walk starting at 11:00 am, the event will have a car show, raffle baskets, children’s activities, and merchandise vendors. Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and canopies.

Since T-Shirts sporting this year’s event are no longer guaranteed as of August 1, groups at events such as this occasionally opt to get T-shirts of their own printed with their business’s Logo Design.

Hero’s for HEARTS Walk (also called the Bakersfield Buddy Walk 2023) will take place Saturday, October 7 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
