Bakersfield runners have three spring runs coming up

Runners here in Bakersfield will have at least two April and one May running events coming over the next few weeks.

The Third Annual Bakersfield Pirate 5K Booty Run is slated for Sunday, April 11 at The Park at River Walk, 11298 Stockdale Highway. Pirate attire is encouraged. Registrants will receive shirts. Finishers will receive Pirate Medallions and chances to win the Pirate Treasure chest full of booty.

On April 25, the Lake Evans Triathlon will feature a 5K run, 10K sprint, triathlons and relays. Each participant will receive a T-shirt featuring this year’s graphic design, a finisher’s medal, free racer photos, a meal, music, prizes and giveaways.

The in-person events will be Sunday, April 25 starting at 8:00 am for the triathlon and triathlon relay, and continuing to 8:50 am for the 5K and 10K runs.

The Judgment Day Half Marathon will take place Sunday, May 23 at 7:00 am at Sam Lynn Ball Park 4009 Chester Avenue. The new scenic route will leave the ballpark, run along the Kern River Trail, through the Panorama Vista Preserve, up Panorama Bluffs, through Panorama Park and back to the ballpark.

Goodies include free breakfast, fruit bars, and photos along with post-race Gatorade, age group awards, finisher medals, race buffs, women’s tech tank tops, and men’s tech short-sleeved shirts.
