For seasoned Bakersfield runners, the Bakersfield Track Club is presenting its annual 20 k and 5k challenging runs in Mr. Toad’s Wild Run coming early in December. The organizers claim it will be “the toughest course for two legs."
The courses will be across rugged hilly terrain that will end in Mr. Toad’s Gully. The 20 k and 5k start at 8:00 am and everything should wind down around 2:30 pm.
Registration for the 20k will be $30 and the 5k will be $25. Long-sleeve tees with an original graphic design will go to those that register early enough. Awards in both events will go to winners in 10-year age categories from ages 20 up and three kids’ age groups- 12 and under, 13 through 14 and 15 through 19 are added to the 5k.
First aid and five water stations will be situated along the 20k course. One water station will be located at the 1.4 mile marker on the 5k course. Music and refreshments will be available after the races. Mr. Toad’s Wild Run will take place no matter how unpredictable the weather becomes.
The event will be December 7th and sign-in will be inside the entrance to Hart Park on Alfred Harrell Highway eight miles northeast of Bakersfield. The races will begin and end next to the weapons training facility.
