The 7th Annual H.A.L.T. 5K and 10K Fun Run will be held at Yokuts Park in Bakersfield.
This event is pet friendly and those running under the finish Banners with their pets will be cheered on by locals. The first dog to finish the race will be treated to a special award and photo shoot.
The "top dog" will not be the only one to receive recognition; prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category as well.
This year’s event will feature a runners’ lunch which includes the opportunity to win items during a drawing. A Vendors’ Fair has been added this year so runners and spectators will be able to enjoy a variety of items from local vendors.
H.A.L.T. (Helping Animals Live Tomorrow) is a local nonprofit that was created in 2008 to help with the rescue and adoptions of unwanted animals. Its mission is to place every unwanted pet into a loving home. Those attending this Fun Run will have an opportunity to see how much hard work the volunteers put into making sure that every pet has a place to go. It is also an opportunity to obtain information on how to help volunteer or support the organization.
Race registration includes a free t-shirt and goodie bag. The race will take place on Saturday, June 4, at 7:00 am. Registration is available online.
