Bakersfield puts on dancing shoes

In a couple of weeks the United Square Dancers Association will be sponsoring its annual Bakersfield Fiesta. The dances during the three-day event will include mainstream, advanced, rounds and challenges.

The flyer printing for the event has created two double-sided Flyers that say that the first activity will be a Trail’s End Dance. The first 45 minutes will be pre-rounds and that will be followed by the square dance. Guests are to dress casually and get ready enjoy plus and star tips. A bonus dance will be the next afternoon with Hunter Keller as the caller.

Friday’s agenda will have six programs. Harvest Hall will have Cleek, McLaughlin, Ryall, some level IV, III and II during the afternoon and evening. Building 3 will have a two-hour session for levels IV, V and VI. Building 1 will have a half-hour square dance pre-rounds of various levels with the Nelsons as cuers.

Round dance classes will be held in Harvest Hall on Saturday morning. The Nelsons will be cuers for the IV, V classes and Zena and Ernie Beaulieu will teach the II and III level classes in the afternoon.

On Sunday there will be a class in easy ROM in the morning and a dance for levels II and III.

The Bakersfield Fiesta will be from March 15 to March 17 at the Kern County Fairgrounds, 1142 South P Street, Bakersfield. Times and prices are on the event’s website.
