The Bakersfield Californian and members of the Bakersfield area California Highway Patrol teamed up to host an event that will help to make the lives of ill and disadvantaged children a little bit happier.
The annual CHiPs for KiDs Toy Drive saw people contribute new, unwrapped toys that will be donated to kids ranging in age from babies to teens who are underprivileged or in the hospital.
The event took place in the parking lot of The Californian, and people could have their toys unloaded by volunteers, drop them at the curb, or bring them in person. They were also accepted at the CHP office in the Auto Mall. A printer can provide marketing services to help promote the event so as many people as possible will be made aware that it is happening.
The event was kicked off by a convoy of decorated school buses that was escorted by CHiPs officers. These had been filled with contributions from local businesses such as Chevron, Motor City, and Walgreens. The public dropped off many toys for younger kids, while gifts of shaving kits, hairdryers, and makeup were provided for the teens.
According to Officer Robert Rodriguez, the outpouring of generosity by the community was impressive. He further went on to say that there are a lot of families who have fallen on hard times, and the toys will be given to as many children as possible.
