Bakersfield holds two charity galas on same weekend

Two charity galas have been scheduled for the first weekend in November.

On the Friday evening, Children First is hosting its first annual Literacy Gala. Along with celebrating life and literacy, the event will be a benefit to raise money to reach more children in need in East Bakersfield through the Children First Literacy Program.

The evening will have a Mexican masquerade theme and guests have been encouraged to dress accordingly. There will be dinner, art, prizes, a silent auction, and performances will be provided by Velorio and BCSD Folklorico Group.

General admission will be $120, and a table for 10 may be reserved for $1,150. The Book of Life Literacy Gala will be November 4 from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm at Seven Oaks Country Club.

Sevilla Nights – the 3rd Annual Autism Gala – will be held the next evening. The Kern Autism Network, Inc. will be celebrating its 26th anniversary with a Spanish-themed atmosphere including cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dancing, dinner, music, and a silent auction. Cocktail/semi-formal attire will be required.

All proceeds will go to the County of Kern’s Autism population. The 3rd Annual Autism Gala will take place Saturday, November 5 from 5:30 pm to 11:00 pm at Bakersfield Country Club.

Pictures taken at events such as this often go to local Print shops to be added to the charities’ printed communications.
