Water Lantern Festivals are being held in many U.S. cities this summer and Bakersfield will be having its in mid-August.
Thousands of lighted lanterns are expected to heal, reflect, connect, love, celebrate the present while remembering the past, plan for the future, overcome challenges, set goals and spread joy to those making and floating them.
The park will be filled with live entertainment, food trucks, and activities. The main pre-float activity will be constructing and decorating the lanterns.
Adult tickets will be $55.99 at the gate. Tickets will include floating lantern kits, drawstring Bags, markers, food truck access, playing and conversation cards, and admission to the scavenger hunt giveaway.
Youth tickets for young festival goers from the ages of 8 to 14 will be $13.70 and will include all the adult ticket amenities. Younger children will need free tickets to enter but will not receive lantern kits.
Hoodies for $29.99 and tee shirts for $19.99, each sporting a festival graphic design, are available for purchase online. Additional lanterns may also be purchased for $19.99.
Gates will open at 5:00 pm with food trucks and music running until 9:00 pm. Designing lanterns will begin at 7:30 pm with the lantern launch going from8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The event will wind down around 9:00 pm.
The Water Lantern Festival will take place August 17th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at The Park at River Walk, 11298 Stockdale Highway.
