Bakersfield heads for county fair

The 2018 Kern County Fair is heading this way toward the end of September. The twelve-day event will have livestock, bands, shows, a circus and turkey stampedes.

Brad’s World of Reptiles and a Creature Feature show will be two of many free attractions. An All Star Stunt Dog Challenge will take place each day. There will be three turkey stampedes a day, a monster truck show, and the All Alaskan Racing Pigs.

Another free attraction will be the Russel Brothers Circus, which will be giving two performances a day on weekdays and three on weekends. The shows will have ground and aerial acts, equestrian and animal acts, and plenty of clowns.

Three stages will have live entertainment including the Beach Boys, the Timberworks Lumberjack Show, the Recreation Musical, War, Kupido, Amkor Y Llanto, and Lucha Libre.

Carnival rides will be available all during the event. Along with the traditional jumping jungle, wet boats, balloon samba, and kid wheel, new events this year will include the Mega Flip and Pirates of the Midway Funhouse.

Commercial exhibitors will be handing out business cards, coupons, promotional pens, fliers and other materials.

The auction will include swine, goats, and lambs on the first three days, and turkeys, poultry, rabbits, fryers, bred heifers, and market beef on the last Saturday.

The Kern County Fair will be September 19 through 30 at the Kern County Fair and Event Center 1142 South P Street.
