Those serious about their play will be signing up for the upcoming Bakersfield California Mud Factor 2018 coming in November.
Participants will get to wallow their way through 16 obstacles, each one having its unique challenge. Organizers say this event is not so much a 5K race as it is about finishing the challenge.
Registrants are encouraged to form teams and run together in the same wave.
Some of the obstacles have names such as Rope Climb, Slip n’ Slide, Mud Crawl, Tire Run, Wire Crawl, Shallow Mud Pit, and Cargo Net. To start things off, runners creep, crawl, climb, and dodge barrels along a 50-foot long mud pit. The Triple Threat is a set of three 15 feet high structures set at a 70-degree angle. The different faces have climbing ropes, ladders, cargo nets, and paneled walls. A Staggered Hay Bales is a run through around and over slick hay bales.
Little runners from 13 years old down to 4 can enter the KIDZ Waves. They will receive the same bananas and achievement medals with the event Logo Design as the adults do. The course will be a shorten version of the adult run with some of the obstacles “scaled down to size.”
The Run is scheduled for November 11 at Hart Memorial Park, Alfred Harrel Highway. The first adult wave begins at 11:45 am and the first KIDZ Wave begins at 11:00 am.
