Study shows low teacher turnover in Show Low

Show Low teachers are seen to be relatively comfortable, according to a recent study.

The recently published state study showed that the Show Low school district had some of the lowest teacher staff turnover rates for medium-sized schools in the state during the 2024–2025 academic year.

Show Low was ranked third among medium-sized districts in terms of teacher turnover. Approximately 8% of its educators quit working in public schools. One percent more went to different school districts.

The Arizona Board of Education will get the report.

Counties have very different teacher vacancy rates throughout the hiring period from February to July. In Navajo County (71 jobs), the teacher vacancy rate was 7%, while in Apache County it was 14%. In general, the large urbanized counties had lower vacancy rates—6% in Pima and Maricopa counties, for example.

According to the report:

“These changes ripple beyond staffing levels; they affect student success. Frequent teacher turnover interrupts learning continuity, delays academic progress and limits access to experienced educators.”

In the wake of a crisis in educator turnover rates, last year's Senate Bill 1735 mandated the yearly report. Show Low has an employee turnover rate of 5-9% in one year despite having one of the most stable teacher staffs in the state. In the state, 4% of teachers moved to different districts while 14% of instructors quit public schools. Printing services could by used by educational institutions.
