Town to celebrate 4th with traditional fireworks

The Town of Gilbert and the Central Christian Church are once again presenting their annual Fire in the Sky 4th of July festivities.

There will be music and concession stands selling traditional seasonal snacks, beverages, and food such as hamburgers, pretzels, hot dogs, watermelon, sno-cones, cotton candy, and fresh lemonade.

Beach balls, koosies, and other freebies will be available, while ‘glo-necklaces’ and other novelties will be available for sale. Summer-related contests, such as the watermelon-eating contests, will have prizes for the winners.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnics, and blankets. Although there will be no charge for admission and parking will be free, the organizers ask that everyone bring a non-perishable food item for the United Food Bank local. Bins will be located at the three sites.

Photographers will want to bring special lenses to capture the brilliant colors of the fireworks for future poster printing.

The event will begin at 5:30pm on the fourth. Fireworks will begin around 9pm, weather and the local fire department permitting. The fireworks will be launched from the southeast corner of Germann Road and Lindsay at the Central Gilbert Campus.

Attendees can also view the fireworks from other locations – the Gilbert Soccer Complex, Greenfield, and Germann in the southwest corner, and Campo Verde High School, in the northwest corner of Quartz and Germann.
