Gilbert Days set to return
Local folks looking for a good time may want to mark their calendars for Gilbert Days, coming in November. The annual event will once again feature a parade and two-day music festival.
As in years past, the parade will feature over 80 floats and will start at 8:30 am on Gilbert Road between Elliot Road and Juniper Avenue. Parking will be available throughout the Heritage District. The parade will take place rain or shine, unless conditions become unsafe. Drivers are forewarned that there will be several road closures downtown to accommodate the parade.
Float participants in parades such as this often have local print shops print logos or graphics on matching T-shirts.
The two-day music festival will feature a variety of live music acts, along with food and beverages, and will run from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm both days. Tickets will be needed for entry to the festival and will cost $5 per person over age 13 if bought in advance. At the gate, the price will be $10 per person.
The festival will also include a family fun area with free backyard inflatables and games. An on-site sensory-friendly space will be available on site for families with members sensitive to overwhelming sights and sounds.
This year, the parade will take place Saturday, November 22 and the Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, November 21 and 22. The organizers are welcoming anyone who would like to sponsor or volunteer at the event.
