Scrooge and Sugar Plum Fairy return

The Gilbert area will once again get the opportunity to enjoy two holiday classics.

For the 21st year, The Hale Centre Theatre will be offering its version of Charles Dickens holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” with a play and music.

This production will include traditional carols, period costumes and unforgettable characters. The production will have two casts, with the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge played by Joey Morrison in the Green Cast and Rob Stuart in the Red Cast.

The two-hour performances will be directed by David Dietlein with music directed by Lincoln Wright. The performance has been choreographed by Cambrian James.

This holiday classic will be performed from Thursday, November 30 to December 23 at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts, 4132 E Pecos Road. Most days have more than one showing.

Another classic, The Nutcracker, will be performed by Ballet Etudes. These performances will recreate Clara and her journey with her prince The Nutcracker as they encounter snowflakes, life-sized mice, and the Sugar Plum Fairy, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s original score.

The Nutcracker will be at The Chandler Center for the Arts this Friday, November 26 at 7:00 pm, Saturday, November 27 at 2:00 and 7:00 pm, and Sunday, November 28 at 3:00 pm. It will also be performed December 3, 4, and 5.

Over the years, many Stationery printers have used colorful pictures of these two classic tales on their Christmas cards.
