Residents of Gilbert invited to a local annual festival

Dignity Health is inviting everyone to its upcoming 12th annual Gilbert Global Village Festival.

The event has been created to bring members of this multicultural community together to celebrate their similarities and differences. The event will highlight contemporary and traditional arts, crafts, dance, ethnic foods, music, religions, and children activities from other countries. Community schools, residents, services, and nonprofit organizations will be participating.

Entertainment will be presented on four stages at Saint Xavier University. One stage, the Community Stage, will have the lineup of a conga club, a mariachi band, a didgeridoo player, a taekwondo group, and a group called No Other Name.

Another offering on the day will be the Earth Stage, which will be presenting the didgeridoo player, marimbas, a martial lion dance, and inspiration dance, the Ballet Folklorico Fuego de Phoenix, and the mariachi band.

Some other acts on the third stage, the Village Stage, will be a Bedoin tribe, belly dancers, Highland dancers, and town fiddlers. Latin guitars, hulas, Irish dance, and the Phoenix Afro-Beat Orchestra will be shown on the final stage, which is the World Stage.

Everyone will want to mark their Calendars for April 9. The event will be from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on the green open spaces at the Gilbert Civic Center’s North Campus, 50 E. Civic Center Drive, Gilbert.
