Gilbert locals looking for a way to shrug off the heaviness of the season may want to participate in one of the two run/walks being held on the same day later next month. Both are family-friendly and both have a variety of options for those that wish to participate.
Both events will start early, the Gilbert Peeps 5K and Family Fun Run will feature 5K and 1K races followed by a carnival. There will be a variety of categories for people of different ages, from under 9 to 70 and up. Teams can also run together if they choose. There will also be photo opportunities with the Peeps bunny afterwards.
The other run/walk, called the Salute A Solider 5K, will be held across town and will be run as a way to honor those who have served their country.
Participants in both events may want to bring a camera for taking photos for later possible use in poster printing. Others may want to have some banner printing done.
Both events will take place on Saturday, March 12. The Peeps run/walk will start at 8:00 am at the Greenfield Lutheran School parking lot, 425 S Greenfield Rd, Gilbert. The carnival will start at 9:00 am. Registration will be $30.
The Salute A Soldier Walk/Run will start at 8:30 am at Freestone Park, 104 E Juniper Rd, Gilbert. Registration will be $40.
