Musical to give Gilbert Theater plenty to work with

A night of business antics, complete with songs and mayhem, will soon be taking place right here in Gilbert.

Later this month, Cambrian James will be directing a community theater production of ‘9 to 5’ with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton; one of the stars of the movie by the same name.

‘9 to 5’ is a story about three female friends who work in an office during the late 1970s, in a somewhat less than ideal situation. They exact revenge on their egotistical and sexist boss. The show is a two-and-a-half-hour romp through the business world with just a touch of romance.

Hale Center Theater has been offering Community Theater to the Phoenix area since 1947. It has recently been hailed as the Best Community Theater, East Valley Phoenix 2013 by News Times Best of Awards; an accolade that will no doubt be shown through promotional materials, perhaps courtesy of local Stationery printers.

The theatrical production will be held at the Hale Centre Theatre, 50 W. Page Ave., Gilbert both tomorrow, May 10, and Sunday, May 17, with performances at 3:00 pm and 7:30:00 pm. Further performances will be given Thursday, May 15 at 7pm and on Friday, May 16, at 7:30 pm. Tickets range from $16 to $26, depending on seating. Parking is free.
