Local arts center holds summer concerts

Chandler Center for the Arts (CCA) will be starting its 24th Annual Free Summer Concert Series soon. This series will be five in-person performances on Friday evenings in July and August.

The first performance takes place next Friday, July 23, and will be Notes from Neptune. The music will be a blues take on classic rock, pop hits, and Motown music ranging from John Mayer back to Pink Floyd.

The Kim Weston Jazz Quartet is scheduled for August 6. Jazz songwriter, vocalist, and bandleader Kim Weston will be singing jazz standards.

Sandra Bassett Motown Revue is set for August 13. Bassett performs a high-energy Motown stage show featuring stories and songs defining a generation.

Big Pete Pearson will perform on August 20. Considered by many as the “King of the Blues”, Pearson will be singing soul and blues reminiscent of 1960 Chicago night clubs.

Marmalade Skies, a Beatles tribute band, will be the final performance on August 27.

Soda, beer and wine will be available for Gilbert patrons. Guests may also opt to view the Take a Hike exhibition (highlighting Arizona’s public lands, trails and parks) in the CCA Gallery.

Many patrons of the arts are giving more individual donations and monetary Corporate Gifts right now to restore lost income for centers that have faced obstacles over the last year and a half.

Free Summer Concert Series performances will be on the Center’s main stage starting at 7:30 pm.
