Gilbert to appease sweet-toothed locals

The Gilbert Civic Center is hosting its annual Sweets Festival in mid-February. The five-hour event will celebrate everything gooey, sweet, and syrupy in the form of candy, chocolate, ice cream, cotton candy, and doughnuts.

Those with a sweet tooth can chew their way through the Cupcake Commons, Cookie Castle, and Gummy Gulch, crunch through Lollipop Woods, and scale Chocolate Mountain.

Adults can imbibe special cocktails as the kids run off their sugar highs in the multiple kids’ zones, enjoying games, bounce houses and attractions. Youngsters can also make crafts, stop at the s-more making station, and go on a candy scavenger hunt.

Statewide teenage bands will perform in the Family Rocks Entertainment zone, while School of Rock will have local bands on the main stage to entertain the crowds. Decorating classes will be available for the more creative guests.

Sweets and savory food vendors be selling their treats. At events such as this, businesses usually have Business Cards available for those who may wish to contact them for parties and future events.

Tickets are $7 general admission online. Kids 12 years old or younger can get in free, but Kids Zone wristbands run $15 online and will increase to $20 on event day.

Sweets Festival will be Saturday, February 16 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Gilbert Civic Center Park, 50 E. Civic Center Drive.
