The 14th Annual Gilbert Global Village Festival is coming in a couple of weeks.
This multicultural celebration will be an occasion for neighbors, friends, nonprofits, schools, and service organizations to learn more about each other’s cultures, and will feature music, dance, art and crafts, children’s activities, and ethnic food.
Everyone is encouraged to “Bike Around the World” by riding their bikes to the event as part of the month-long Valley Bike initiative. There will be plenty of bike parking available and participants will get special bike-themed prizes.
Guests should sure to bring money, as there will be plenty of food and multi-themed merchandise vendors, and no ATM on site.
Entertainment will be on four stages: the Dignity Health World Stage will have a marimba music, highland dance, Bedouin belly dance, Native Spirit, and the Parade of Nations. The Gilbert Mercedes-Benz Village Stage will present African dance and drums, ballet Folklorico, a lion dance, belly dancing, Taal dance, and fiddlers.
The Savannah House Earth Stage will see performances of sign language, playing the didgeridoo, Irish dancing, flamenco, and Sudanese music. Lastly, flute music, traditional music and dance, and hula will be found on the First Impressions First Nations Stage.
Pictures taken during this event will surely be submitted as part of the city’s 2019 Visitors’ Guide brochure printing.
Gilbert Global Village will be April 14 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm on the North Campus of the Gilbert Civic Center, 50 E. Civic Center Drive.
