Gilbert spruces up for festival and rodeo

The town of Gilbert is readying for the upcoming 41st Gilbert Days Rodeo & Festival coming in mid-November.

A pre-Gilbert Rodeo and Festival event will be the Gilbert Off the Street Festival coming on November 1 and 2 in the Gilbert Heritage District. This event will have live music, street performers, kids’ crafts, and food trucks.

Events will open officially with the Pony Express Ride coming November 15 and 16. The Lil’ Duds Rodeo will feature kids from the ages of four to seven as they ride sheep in the Gilbert Days Mutton Bustin on November 22, 23, 24.

On November 23, the Gilbert Half Marathon and 10K Run will take place. The half marathon will begin at 7:30 am at Higley High School 4068 E. Pecos Road, and registration is $95. The 10K will start at 9:00 am in Nichols Park, 700 N. Highley Road, for which registration will be $50.

All race participants will receive finisher medals, swag Bags, race support, and official technical T-Shirts sporting the event’s graphic design. Runners will also get to run along with the Gilbert Day Parade.

Also that morning, this year’s Gilbert Day parade will commence at 8:30 am in Gilbert Heritage District. Many of our local businesses, special interest groups, schools, and non-profit organizations will be taking part. This year’s theme will be “Having Fun in Gilbert.”

The rodeo proper will be November 22 through 24 at Welcome Home Ranch 26601 S. Val Vista Drive.
