Gilbert pet lovers and those just wanting to get out and run will be heading for the 7th annual Racin’ For Rescues 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run coming in early October.
For the in-person event, individual registration will be $35 from now until October 6 and $40 on race day. Virtual runners pay $30 until October 6. In-person registration for the 1 Mile Fun Run will be $25 until October 6, after which it will go up to $30.
Swag for all participants will include finisher medals and blue T-Shirts, both sporting the dog and cat Racin’ for Rescues graphic design, Runner’s Brunch (consisting of fruit, granola bars, Gatorade, and water) before and after the race, and real-time photos and results on the event’s website.
Awards will be given in the 5k only. They will go to the top three finishers in 16 age categories.
Packets will be available on Friday, October 6 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Sole Sports in Tempe, 1006 W. Warner Road. Registration and packet pickup will begin at 7:00am on race day. The 5k will begin at 8:00am with the one-mile event beginning at 8:10am. The awards ceremony will begin sometime around 9:00am.
AZ Paws and Claws Pet Fostering’s Racin' For Rescues 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will take place Saturday, October 7, at Freestone Park. The event will welcome wagons, strollers, wheelchairs, and leashed pets.
