Once again, the town of Gilbert will be celebrating its anniversary by holding a three-day event called Gilbert Days this month.
This year will feature the Gilbert Days 5k and 1 Mile Run, the Gilbert Half Marathon, and of course the main event, the Gilbert Days Parade.
The 5k and 1 Mile Run will be held at Freestone Park and are being sponsored by Banner Health Center. Those who wish to participate can register online at the site’s website. Both events are open to anyone 3 to 100 years old. The 5k will cost $20 to register, and the one-mile event will cost $15. The marathon is being sponsored by Shun the Sun and will start at 1:30 pm.
The course will run through the heart of Gilbert along flat terrain. It will begin at Higley High School and finish alongside the parade. There will be pacers, water stations, nutrition information and Porta-Johns available. All runners will get a T-shirt, a medal, and a swag bag.
The parade will feature local bands, celebrities and a variety of other guests. Those on floats are reminded to not throw candy and are asked to have someone at ground level pass out Flyers.
The parade will take place on November 21st starting at 8:30 am, the 5k and 1 Mile Run will take place the day before, and the half marathon will take place on the 21st.
