Gilbert presents TED Talks of its own

Gilbert will present its own version of the famous TED Talks with TedxGilbert Emerge 2020 coming in May.

There will be six speakers, including philanthropists Jenette Jenkins and Nikita Bharati. Jenkins worked as a videographer for Big Ocean Women and is now, through her personal project The Sacred Heart Photography and Films, promoting motherhood.

Presently a junior at Chandler’s Basha High School, Bharati works with vertical gardens and production of Food Computers, which she takes to local high and middle schools. At the age of 14, she co-founded Girl STEMpowerment, an international organization of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Among the other guests are Jeff Bassett, who is a marketing expert working on technologies to eliminate plastic. Investigative journalist Dave Cawley launched COLD, a podcast examining the 2009 Susan Powell disappearance. The Apple podcast realized over 30 million downloads in one year. Gianluca Russo is a freelance fashion writer and has gained attention in the plus-size community with his views on body positivity and size inclusivity, while Dana Berchman is Gilbert’s Chief Digital Officer managing all external and internal communication.

There will also be two one-of-a-kind performances conducted by local East Valley artists. Attendees that enjoy performances like these often ask the performers for Business Cards so they can book them at a later date.

TedxGilbert Emerge 2020 is scheduled to take place Saturday, May 2 from 7:00 pm until 9:30 pm at Gilbert High School Auditorium, 1101 East Elliot Road.
