Gilbert makes the most of November

Along with Barrel Racing, the Pony Express Ride, and Roping Day, November also sees locals looking forward to the 39th Annual Gilbert Days Rodeo. Since the rodeo will only be in town for three days, many will want to mark our Calendars now.

The 2017 Gilbert Days parade already has a full slate of floats, and businesses, schools and special interest groups are scurrying around town procuring Banners and building their entries. Over 15,000 spectators and 5,000 participants are expected to attend this year’s parade, the theme of which will be ‘Gilbert Kindness’.

All units and floats are asked to show how their organizations contribute to kindness in our area. Announcers will be judging entries along the parade route. Prizes will be free parade entries for next year’s parade.

Freestone Park will be hosting Gilbert Days 5K and 1 Mile Run on November 17. The afternoon runs will start with a mascot run followed by the one-mile fun run and ending with the 5K. The Gilbert Half Marathon at Higley High School and 10K Run at Nichols Park will take place the next morning, along with the Queen Creek 5 which will be a five-miler, a 5K and a 0.5-mile Kids Dash at Desert Mountain Park.

Gilbert Rodeo will be from November 10 through 12. The parade will be November 18 beginning at 8:30 am on Gilbert Road starting at Juniper Road.
