All Gilbert dogs and their human families are invited to attend the 11th annual 12K’s of Christmas.
Santa’s Pet Village will have over 20 rescue groups that will be educating guests about the animals they work with, and selling Christmas gifts for pets in order to raise money for their programs. Many will bring adoptable pets.
A Christmas Bazaar will have around 50 commercial, arts and crafts vendors offering gifts such as pet photography, jewelry and runner supplies. Food vendors will vend early morning goodies.
This event will feature three races – a 12k run, a 6k run/walk, and a 1.2k run/walk. Christmas carolers and other performers such as handbell choirs, cheerleaders, and orchestras will entertain the runners and walkers as they proceed along the course.
Wells Fargo is donating this year’s commemorative finishers’ medals featuring the event’s Christmas-themed graphic design. Running outfits will go to the top three finishers in each age category and sex. Other prizes will go to the top three best dressed pets in each race, and for the most youth, family and individuals who show the most Christmas spirit. Judges will be roaming around the venue and presenting prize tokens to the best costumes. These tokens can be turned in at the prize tent for gifts.
The event will be Saturday, December 14 in Freestone Park. The pet village will be open from 7:30 am until 12:30 pm.
