The annual Gilbert Days Rodeo and Festival is being planned for mid-November as usual. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend over the two days of the event.
As in the past, the Pony Express Ride will kick things off on November 13 and 14, and everyone will want to turn out for the Gilbert Days Barrel Race on November 14.
The main draw to this festival is always the two rodeos that will take place on November 20 through 22. The Lil Dudes Mutton Bustin will be a two-day competition for kids ages 4 to 7 riding sheep bareback and vying for the coveted Shiny Belt Buckle. The Gilbert Day rodeo will take place daily after the kids’ rodeo.
This year’s 2020 Gilbert Days Rodeo Queen is Jessica Wolfe. She and her palomino Lulu, along with Teen Queen Amber Michne and her cow horse Stella, will carry the American flag as they ride into the arena during the opening of the rodeo.
Winners of contests such as these often have official pictures taken that go to local Print shops to be used for the event’s advertising.
The rodeos will be at 26601 S. Val Vista Drive, November 20, 21, and 22. The Lil Dude Mutton Bustin will begin at 5:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and noon on those days respectively, and the Gilbert Days Rodeo will start at 7:00 pm, 5:00 pm, and 2:00 pm respectively.
