Banner Health Center will be hosting its annual Gilbert Outdoors Expo in a few weeks. Local families are invited to participate in activities and sharpen their skills in hiking, hunting, camping, and fishing.
A dog training demonstration by Dog Training Elite will show techniques for both on and off leash. David Morris, an Ethnobotanist, will be presenting a Curandero Trail Walk, and will be explaining how the Choctaw Nation uses desert plants for medicine, food, and spiritual needs. The Dutch Oven Cooking Demo & Tasting will be teaching how to cook a tasty dessert in a Dutch oven.
The Dragon Fly Ramada will be hosting kayaking and paddle boarding classes, and Jeff Mix will have a ‘New Angles in Photography’ showing. Desert River Audubon will loan binoculars and give children Bird Bingo cards for the family bird walks.
A Junior Girl Scout Camping Badge Workshop will be helping Girl Scouts in grades 4 and 5 to complete some of the badge requirements. Brownies in the 2nd and 3rd grades can complete all of the requirements for their Bugs Badges when they attend the Brownie Bugs Workshop.
The city should have photographers at this event to get some good pictures for the town’s tourist travel guide Brochures.
The Expo will be February 25 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Riparian Preserve at 2757 E. Guadalupe Road, Gilbert.
