Locals are getting ready for the Gilbert Centennial Virtual Challenge, Gilbert Secret Shamrock Search, and the Gilbert Global Village Festival.
The Gilbert Centennial Virtual Challenge is going until March 31. Participants may run, walk, or bike to log either 100 miles or 100k and take their mileage logs to the Gilbert Parks and Recreation office, 90 E. Civic Center Drive to receive finisher medals.
A Secret Shamrock Search at Gilbert Regional Park and Gilbert’s Riparian Preserve will begin next Tuesday, March 9. Participants first register and then go to their designated park to search for shamrocks with words printed on them. The words on the shamrocks will form a phrase or sentence, which must be told to the person at the Parks and Recreation office by St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) for prizes.
Virtual programing for this year’s Global Village Festival will air during the week prior to the live performance.
The culmination event on April 2 from 6:30 pm until 8:30 will take place on the great lawn and at the amphitheater in Gilbert Regional Park. Performances will include Native Spirit, Astarte Belly Dance and De Folklor Mexicano. Children will be able to assemble crafts.
Cities that sponsor colorful events like these often have photos taken. These are taken to local Print shops to be inserted into the city’s visitor guide brochure printing.
The Global Village Festival will run from Friday, March 26 through Friday, April 2.
