Gilbert celebrates global diversity

Dignity Health will be sponsoring the 13th annual Gilbert Global Village Festival in a few days.

The event will have ethnic foods, children’s arts and crafts activities, and contemporary and traditional Forms of music and dance. It will feature arts and crafts from around the world. Demonstrations and displays will explain other countries traditions and culture.

Entertainment will be nonstop on the venue’s four stages. The Dignity Health World Stage will present the Rosewood Rascal Marimba Band, Beduin Tribe Tribal Fusion Belly Dance, Guitarras Latinas, Maschino School of Highland Dance, Native Spirit and the Parade of Nations.

The Gilbert Mercedes Benz Village Stage will feature African drum and dance, fiddlers, ballet, a Martial Arts Lion Dance, belly dancing, Taal Dance Academy, and AmeriPan Kids. The two other stages will offer sign language, didgeridoos, Bracken Irish Dance, flute music, and hula.

Local businesses and organizations will have booths on site, and will be displaying commercial products and handing out Flyers and Promotional Products.

This year, as an appendage to the Valley’s Bike month, Valley Metro and The Town of Gilbert are inviting families to bike to the festival. Ample bike parking will be on site and bikers will receive ‘Bike Around the World’ gifts.

The festival is slated for Saturday, April 8 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Gilbert Civic Center, 50 E. Civic Center Drive.
