Gilbert’s Annual Constitution Week USA is quickly approaching, with three events on this year’s agenda.
The Constitution Fair will have replicas of the Capital Building, White House, Independence Hall, and Supreme Court. Actors portraying historical figures such as James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, and Abigail Adams will be meandering through the crowd. Pictures taken of these historic figures and family members would make good subjects for personalized Stationery printing. The Fallen Soldier Memorial will also be open for tours.
The fair will offer a biplane flyover, a kids’ area with games, and a stage just for kid-oriented performances such as a magician and puppet show. Food vendors will be on hand. The ringing of the Liberty B, a military area, a pre-show, and a program presented by the Millennial Choir will round out the event.
Later in the week, there will be a reenactment of actual events in the Revolutionary War between the Rebels and the Redcoats.
Two Citizenship Nights will offer classes on citizenship in the community, nation, and world, and one on American Heritage. The classes will be held September 14 and again on September 21 at Mesquite Jr. High School, 130 W. Mesquite Street, starting at 6:30 pm.
The fair will begin at 6:00 pm on September 17 at the Gilbert Civic Center. The Reenactment will be September 19 starting at 6:00 pm in Gilbert Civic Center Park.
