For a day of fitness and fun, the people of Gilbert are invited to be part of the city’s 12Ks of Christmas, a community Christmas event. Individuals and families will be competing in a 6K run/walk, a 1.2 k run/walk, or a 12K run.
Entertainment will also be presented on two stages along the route. The Reindeer Stage will feature Carol Pacey & the Honey Shakers, the Gilbert High School Jazz Band, the Gilbert High School Orchestra, and the Ballet Folklorico ‘Viva Arizona’. Santa’s Pet Village Stage will present Cloggers for Pound Animals in Need (P.A.I.N) and Arizona Canine Freestylers.
Also along the route, runners and walkers will encounter local singing groups. After the event, participants will be able to vote for their favorite groups for this year’s Christmas Caroling Award. Other awards and prizes will be given for the best 12k Christmas-themed running outfit, best dressed pets, best decorated entry, and most Christmas spirit. Some participants may want to have banner printing carried out for end of race celebrations.
After the race, everyone can stroll through the Christmas Bazaar and shop for unique handmade Christmas arts and crafts. The Pet Village will again be operating during the event to help pets find loving homes.
The race will starts at 9:00 am on Saturday, December 13, at Freestone District Park, 1045 E. Juniper Ave, in Gilbert.
