Montgomery to host annual book celebration

The 10th Annual Alabama Book Festival will be taking place in Montgomery later this week. The event is free and open to the public, with many book-related activities for all ages.

There will be 45 writers, scholars, poets, and industry professionals reading from their Books, including William Cobb, bestselling author Pat Conroy, James Cherry, and Kim Cross. The local Capitol Book & News will be selling publications by featured authors and donating a portion of its proceeds to the festival.

Also at the festival will be a number of exhibitors promoting their book, and a selection of literary organizations. Books and other items of interest to bibliophiles will be available for sale.

Free writing workshops led by authors known around the country will be offered on various aspects of writing, such as poetry, creative nonfiction, fiction, and getting work published.

There will be other activities throughout the day, including helping to write a poem by adding lines to one written by visitors to the festival, collecting Stamps on a card from three author presentations and then turning that card in at the end of the day for a drawing, and food items available for purchase.

The festival will take place this Saturday, April 11, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Old Alabama Town. Most likely, flyer printing has been used by the organizers of the event with specific schedules of the activities, workshops, and readings.
