Local airport sees sustained growth

Montgomery Regional Airport recently announced that the number of Flyers has grown for the past 13 months, a first since 2005.

This came despite a reduction in the number of flights last month for the Fourth of July holiday and an over 10% decrease in the number of flights.

According to Chip Gentry of the Montgomery Regional Airport, the airport has a new website to make people more aware of its features, with many more tools to facilitate booking flights and performing other tasks. Most likely, it has also used a local Print company to create Flyers with more information about the airport and its many new amenities.

He added that many are finding that while the cost of flights may sometimes be higher than from other airports, once the drive and parking are factored in, the overall cost of flying in and out of the regional airport is less expensive.

As the number of Flyers and so the demand increases, there could be a decrease in prices, he pointed out. Airlines have the option to add additional flights or use larger aircraft, with the possibility of another airline coming in to increase competition. All this can decrease the prices for airfare.

In fact, beginning on August 19, Delta will have four of its seven flights in the dual class cabins. Also, American will offer a third daily flight to Charlotte as of next month.
