Queens Quay Development in Clydebank

In Clydebank, councilors have approved Plans for the first phase of the Queens Quay development.  They unanimously agreed to grant planning permission in principle for the Queens Quay masterplan, which was presented by the owners of the site Clydeside Regeneration Limited (CRL).

Clydebank central’s Cllr Patrick McGlinchey said: “I’d like to thank the planners for the work they have done here – this is the most significant work being done in Clydebank for a generation.”

The committee saw a presentation on the 23-hectare site. The layout of the former John Brown’s site will be a traditional urban grid, with streets designed in a different hierarchy, including a main 'spine' road going through the development.  Courtyard car parking will dictate how the houses are developed. There will be a variety of greenspaces designed to have more than one function, such as enhancing biodiversity as well as recreational purposes.

The presentation showed told how there is to be a high-quality public realm, with it being described as a “robust environment”.  Existing street furniture at the docks will be made use of, with old industrial remnants by the docks remaining.  Children will be catered for with a playpark.

Sea walls were found to be in better condition than initially thought at the site, which will include around 1000 homes, a leisure centre, a care home as well as a new health centre.

Developments such as there benefit from using local printers to produce quality pamphlets and Brochures detailing the sites amenities.
