It has been confirmed that this second branch will be located within TG Jones, which is on Sinclair Street. The reason that has been given for it is that the existing Post Office in the town is struggling to cope with cash and parcel service demand. When it opens, the new branch will provide parcel services via Parcelforce Express, cash withdrawals, top-up services and cheque deposits.
The Post Office will also feature a cutting-edge design, complete with a service point that is open-plan and low-screen. This will be directly connected to the shopping counter. Opening hours for it will be from 9am to 5pm between Monday and Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.
Helensburgh did previously have a second Post Office, at Churchill Square. This closed three years ago though, despite a campaign to save it. Local campaigns of that sort sometimes use flyer printing services to help stimulate interest.
According to the Helensburgh Advertiser, a spokesperson for the Post Office said:
“This trial is part of our wider transformation plan to grow market share and increase income across the whole branch network for all postmasters and partners with a network that is shaped by customer demand.”
It is due to open sometime around May.
