Potential new viewing tower for Helensburgh

A brand new viewing tower could be built by the seafront in Helensburgh, as one of several ideas that have been put forward for developing part of the town.

The tower suggestion is inspired by the one in Brighton that stands at 500-foot tall. Since it opened in the city on the south coast of England seven years ago, the observation tower has drawn close to 2 million visitors. Now a similar, smaller version has been proposed for the waterfront in Helensburgh. The idea is for it to be tall enough to provide comprehensive views of the Firth of Clyde, as well as the town.

Helensburgh Community Council (HCC) came up with it as one of three propositions for redeveloping the section of the seafront that used to be home to Helensburgh Swimming Pool.

At a recently held meeting, the HCC stated that it considered the notion of building a viewing tower to be a realistic one, and that it was also the most exciting of three put forward. It added that the tower would become a new landmark.

Stationery printers in the town can help organisations like the HCC to ensure that they have the administration Forms needed to make their meetings run smoothly.

The tower proposal and others will be sent to Argyll and Bute Council for further consideration.
