Plans for garden in Helensburgh go on show

An area within Helensburgh that used to be home to a play park for children is all set to be reopened to the general public in its revamped form during the summer.

Plans detailing the work being carried out to transform the former James Street play park were put on show recently, during a special open day event for this purpose. James Street Community Garden Association put this event together and it was held at Helensburgh Parish Church.

Among those who attended were Willie Rennie, the leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats and Aileen Morton, the councillor for Helensburgh Central. She has played a key role in the Plans for the regeneration of the park.

It has been driven by the Garden Association and it is now carrying out the last parts of the project, which has included planting new flowers and trees and laying a fresh path.

Speaking to the Helensburgh Advertiser, the association’s Elizabeth Lambert said:

“William Freeland and the Community Service team have been fantastic in laying the new path in the garden and we are hopeful that the garden will be open for use over the summer holidays.”
