New townhouses could be built in Helensburgh

Several smart new townhouses could be constructed at a Helensburgh site currently occupied by flats, if the developer is given the go-ahead for the project by the local council.

The developer behind this scheme, Joe Lafferty, has submitted a demolition notice to the planning bosses at Argyll and Bute council for this site, which takes in parts of both John Street and West King Street. The notice was accompanied by a statement from the architects involved, which says that the plan is to build four new townhouses where the three flats currently stand.

If the council gives Lafferty permission to knock these flats down and pursue his new development idea, it would also incorporate areas for car parking and sizeable green spaces. Developers sometimes use Graphic Design Services to show what architects designs will look like when they are built.

The demolition notice submitted by Lafferty makes the point that the flats have not been lived in for some time and that building the townhouses there would not be possible without knocking them down.

StudioTed Architecture designed the development and its statement says that the houses would be built at the northernmost end, while the southern end would be used for the green spaces and parking facilities.

It is hoped that the planning application can be submitted in 2021 quarter three.
