A centre in Helensburgh that honours some of the more notable people to have come from the town could be set for a relaunch, having been closed for over a year.
Helensburgh Heroes is situated on Sinclair Street and was originally set up in 2017, with a major fanfare accompanying the grand launch, only to close down last October, after barely a year. Now it may be given a second chance, as Professor Michael Baker, who lives in the town, is hoping to get it up and running again within the next few months.
Baker is the current owner of the premises where it was based, having acquired it for the original launch. Speaking to the Helensburgh Advertiser, he stated that it had closed down because of access issues at the back of the building, but that he had new proposals for getting it going again.
The plan is to reopen with the same Helensburgh Heroes idea, but also to offer room for local artists and creators to hold displays and put their work on sale. Community innovations such as this often use brochure printing services to provide interested parties with relevant information.
Baker added that he is keen to find out if residents would be prepared to help maintain the centre, and if the response is positive, it could open again in 2020.
