New defibrillator for tennis club in Helensburgh

Another venue in Helensburgh has managed to secure the funds needed to buy and set up a piece of vital lifesaving equipment – in the form of a Publicly Accessible Defibrillator (PAD).

Located on Suffolk Street, Helensburgh Lawn Tennis Club raised the money for the defibrillator, with the acquisition of it being completed via Helensburgh and Local District CPR/Defibrillator Association. This charity’s chairperson, Sheenah Nelson, paid a visit to the club so that she could officially present it to the convener.

Six people in the town have had their lives saved as a result of one of these machines being available close to hand, and due to employees at those venues having been given the necessary training in using them.

This training is now set to be provided to those working at the club, so that they are ready to handle an emergency. Heartstart Helensburgh Garelochside Rotary is the organisation that will deliver these classes.

Nelson told The Advertiser:

“I congratulate the Committee and club members for making this life saving machine available to the local community. Six lives have been saved so far thanks to the support and generosity of the local community in assisting us to fund these lifesaving machines.”

Clubs of this kind often choose to make use of places that can handle newsletter printing, to keep members informed about upcoming events.
