Loch Lomond Shores, at Balloch was the home again to the Loch Lomond Scottish Food and Drink Festival, known as Springfest at the start of the month. Well over 10,000 people visited the site over the two days and apart from excellent food and drink were also offered free entertainment and live music too. The Festival, which is free to enter as well as offering free parking too, highlights not just the tastes and favours from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, but also features specialities from around the world too.
There were a huge number of cookery demos to attend, some were watch only some are participatory. The kids were catered for too with a large number of free things to do from bouncy castles, to the animal man, to face painting and balloons, with guest appearances from Ollie the Octopus who lives on site and of course some cookery classes aimed specifically for younger folk.
Taking advantage of the water were cruises on the Sweeney boats or a more sedate time with the Maid of the Loch and a fine dram.
All in all, it was a brilliant festival and the next similar event will be in September 2017.
Events such as these can benefit from suing local printers to produce leaflets detailing what is happening where and when for the benefit of visitors.
