Kayaking centre and cafe planned near Helensburgh
A brand new kayaking centre and cafe may be created at a location just outside of Helensburgh, if the council gives the go ahead to plans that have been submitted.
The site that has been proposed for them is Craigendoran Pier and the current application is the second to be submitted. The first was for a kayaking centre and guest house, but the latter idea has now been dropped. The people behind the latest application are Claire Fleming and Forbes Hamilton.
Designs for the centre and cafe that they wish to build at the site were created by Helensburgh firm HMA Architects. The chosen site lies to the south of Station Road. It is made up of the pier’s westernmost section.
If the plans get the green light, the kayaking centre and cafe could attract both tourists and residents. There are shops in Helensburgh that can create giveaway promotional products to help advertise amenities of this kind.
According to the Helensburgh Advertiser, the application points out that:
Argyll and Bute Council will announce its decision at a later date.

“Although Helensburgh has a number of restaurants and cafes, the majority of them are in the centre or western end of the town whilst a large percentage of the housing is in the eastern end, particularly after recent new housing developments have been built.”
Argyll and Bute Council will announce its decision at a later date.
