The plan to improve the pier and waterfront section of the town by adding new lights and landscaping its green spaces is set to receive grant financing to the tune of £163,000, via the Place Based Investment Fund. The project to make Hermitage Park more environmentally friendly will be helped along by a £28,000 grant from the same source.
These two grant awards were officially approved by members of Argyll and Bute Council during a recent meeting. According to the Helensburgh Advertiser, the Executive Director of the council, Kirsty Flanagan, submitted a report arguing that the Plans for the pier would improve the overall look of the area.
This report went on to add that the additional lighting would also make the waterfront safer for pedestrians to use at night. Local councils often make use of Stationery printers to supply the administrative materials they need.
Flanagan also spoke of the Hermitage Park project, writing:
“The facility will support community lessons in food growing, thus reducing local food miles. Greening the bothy negates the need to purchase a brand new unit and aligns with the ambitions of COP 26 and net zero ambitions.”
These Plans include solar drainage and lighting.
