Works are still being carried out at Hermitage Park to return it to its former status at the heart of community life in Helensburgh, and now the group of volunteers behind this project have managed to secure a £250 grant from Action Earth Volunteering Matters. This is to be used to buy materials needed to create wildlife ponds there.
Friends of Hermitage Park had already received grant funding of £2,000 from another source and the group now has enough to build three ponds there. They will be a habitat for insects, newts and frogs and may also bring more birds to the park.
Community groups like this often use printers that can create Letterheads for their official newsletters and correspondence. Fiona Baker, the group’s chair told a reporter from the Helensburgh Advertiser that she hoped the ponds would make a difference to biodiversity at the park, before adding:
“Whilst we have the lovely Millig Burn there is currently no still water in the park to provide a habitat for frogs, newts, dragonflies and encourage bird life.”
She went on to state that the ponds were just the latest in a number of projects that the group had pursued for the park.Get a Free Quote for Letterheads
