Slug is the latest play by a theatrical group called Visible Fictions and it centres on a slug that resists the efforts of a frustrated gardener to get rid of it. Other characters in the play include a musician and two clowns, with the whole story being told without dialogue. This physical, slapstick-style makes it perfect for families with young kids, while also rendering it suitable for those who suffer from hearing problems.
The play is the creation of Melanie Jordan, a clown and theatre performer who has won awards for her work. She teamed up with Douglas Irvine, the artistic director for Visible Fictions, to devise the show. Brochure printing services in Helensburgh are sometimes used to provide programmes for upcoming plays and events.
The Victoria Halls will be the venue for the show, which is being described as a light-hearted adventure exploring boundaries and relationships between neighbours. Speaking to a reporter from the Helensburgh Advertiser, Irvine said:
“It’s been very exciting working with clowning techniques to bring our story alive. Telling the story through music and physicality instead of words has been a very interesting process.”
Slug will be in Helensburgh on 19th October.
