An event is being planned to enable consultation with the Helensburgh public over a project for creating a new community garden on the site of an old play park.
The James Street Playpark had its equipment removed back in 2014 and residents of the town have been developing ideas for how the space could be used since then.
Those living in the area close to James Street have teamed up with Helensburgh Community Council and they hope to carry out a renovation of the site before transforming it into a garden for the local community.
It is owned by Argyll and Bute Council and a group is working alongside it to move these Plans forward. The next stage in this will be the consultation event, so that residents can express their opinions about what improvements should be made.
Already, potential funding of £2,500 has been secured from Stalled Spaces, but a condition of this is community consultation. A resident of the area, Jean MacAulay, told the Helensburgh Advertiser:
“We have lots of ideas and we’re keen that it’s a space parents and children can enjoy, as well as retired people and anyone who has an interest in gardening and wildlife.”
Projects such as this one can always make use of places supplying flyer printing to help them get the word out.
The consultation will take place on April 23rd.
